Support Groups

Positive Health runs two support groups for it's clients - an evening meeting and a coffee morning social both done on a monthly basis. Being HIV positive can often be a lonely isolating experience. Both groups provide users a safe and healthy environment to discuss issues & concerns and to socialize with others going through similar problems.

Here is what one of our users has to say about the monthly coffee morning social support group:

"I was unsure about attending a support group as I didn't want to sit around discussing the negative aspects of my condition for two hours. However, the first support group I attended was such a welcoming and worthwhile experience. We did touch on health and benefit issues a little, but mainly it was a fun and friendly place to meet people who understand what I am going through and deal with on a daily basis. It also opened my eyes to see how HIV effects a much greater section of the population even in a mostly rural area like Lincolnshire. We laugh, tell jokes, recount funny or frightening stories and make each other feel not alone. The coffee social is now a highlight of my month. I look forward to attending and seeing the people I have made friends with."
